We have close to two dozen amazing staff members here at LiHigh School. They range in age from 18 to 55, and they bring all kinds of experiences and passions to the table. Over the next several months, we’d like to introduce some of them to you.
Today, we’d like you to meet Andrew Poirier.
Andrew has been with us since the fall of 2016. He studied English secondary education at Green Mountain College, but he always carried an affinity for working in therapeutic environments.
“It seems like second nature to approach education through an individualized lens,” he said. “And I feel like LiHigh’s model of that genuinely proves to aid our students.”
One of Andrew’s big passions is reading and talking about turn-of-the-century American authors, but he also encourages his students to follow their own interests and deviate beyond what one would normally see in an English class.
Andrew is also passionate about Eastern philosophies and cultures, and he’s offered Eastern philosophy and Asian poetry classes in previous quarters.
Outside of school, Andrew is an avid musician, performing with his band, The Lousy Gentlemen, and attending concerts throughout New England. Andrew shares that passion with his students, providing direct instruction in guitar and jamming out with some of our more gifted students whenever he gets a free moment.
Andrew may be among our youngest staff members, but the passion he brings, the patience he shows, and the kindness he exudes also makes him among our most valuable.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Andrew.
