Student Post: You Are Who You Are

This short essay was written by Cassidy, one of our 7th graders, especially for our blog. Enjoy!

For years women have been exploited in magazines, advertisements, on the cover of beauty products, etc. These women mature in a environment where image is everything, and they will go to great lengths to achieve what society calls a “perfect body.” We naturally look at these people as role models, but the things they go through to get this physical appearance is horrible and often very unhealthy.

So what is the definition of pretty? In my opinion, it is just a very attractive physical appearance. But the word beautiful is different. It is a more well-rounded word, referring to the beauty inside as well as your physical appearance.

Being pretty or beautiful doesn’t have anything to do with makeup, lies, or just being fake and trying to change who you are.

Never let anyone tell you who you are. You are who you are and just realizing that is beautiful on its own.
